Tracy is a dually qualified speech pathologist/teacher. Tracy became a teacher after completing a French degree and taught for a number of years in primary schools in the UK with a special interest in the language curriculum. It was whilst Tracy was working as a teacher that she became aware of the speech pathology profession and decided to retrain as a speech pathologist.

Tracy has worked as a speech pathologist in New Zealand and Australia across both adult and pediatric populations, in hospital and community settings. Tracy has also worked as a lecturer and clinical educator at the University of Queensland. Since completing her PhD, Tracy has worked on NHMRC language recovery stroke projects for the University of Queensland, supervised research speech pathologists and PhD students, and has also taught into speech pathology degree programmes.

In 2020, Tracy joined CATTS as the professional supervisor for speech pathology, a role she thoroughly enjoys as it enables her to provide individual and group mentorship and guidance to the speech pathologists at CATTS, in order that they can develop as happy, confident, autonomous practitioners. Over Tracy’s career, language and literacy have been a central interest and she has recently started a specialist literacy clinic in Maroochydore to support children, adolescents, and young adults with persisting language and literacy deficits. Tracy is Sounds-Write trained and integrates this evidence-based linguistic phonics approach into her reading, spelling, and writing therapy sessions.
