Specialist Disability Support in Schools (SDSS) Program

The SDSS Program provides funding to approved non-state organisations to deliver services that support eligible school-aged students with disability across Queensland. These services are designed to improve access to the curriculum, promote student wellbeing, and enhance participation in educational activities.
Who benefits from SDSS-funded services?
The program supports:
- State school students with disability from Prep to Year 12
- Students who require additional support to access and engage in the curriculum
- School staff and families, through the delivery of professional development and resource support
What types of services are funded?
Organisations funded by SDSS may provide:
- Direct support to students (e.g. therapy, mobility support, assistive technology)
- Professional development for school staff
- Resources or advice to schools and families to better support student learning
How does funding work?
Funding is provided directly to approved non-state organisations, who work in partnership with Queensland state schools. The Department of Education manages the program, including application and reporting processes.
